The Baby Bitie is made in 100% safe, food-grade TPU, an environmentally friendly material with the perfect durability and flexibility for a teether.
TPU has the same great properties as silicone, but is better for the environment, as it is both developed and can be disposed of/recycled in a better way than silicone.
TPU is durable, non-toxic, 100% recyclable and biodegradable.
And of course, 100% BPA and phthalate free.
Working sustainably and responsibly has always been essential to BIBS, and our brand promise is to become greener in everything we do. Our children will inherit the Earth and we want to actively secure it for generations to come.
TPU stands for ‘Thermoplastic Polyurethane’ and is often referred to as the bridge between rubbers and plastics. The material appears rubber-like, which means it is very elastic, flexible, and smooth to the touch, but at the same time, it is extremely durable and strong.
The TPU we use in our products (currently the Baby Bitie and Dinner Bib) offers high wear resistance, flexibility across a wide range of temperatures, and high elasticity over the entire hardness range. It also possesses excellent resistance to oils, greases, and solvents.
In addition, the TPU range also offers new possibilities for increased sustainability, by reducing carbon footprint without compromising on quality or performance. Up to 60 percent of the carbon content* of the TPU series is sourced from biomass, depending on product hardness. In comparison to fossil-based TPUs, the carbon footprint can be reduced by more than 20 percent.
(*Bio-based content as determined according to ASTM-D6866)
